short sale-taxes?

September 19th, 2012 at 08:02 pm

Well not much has changed since I last blogged. Our savings is about the same although I haven't been using our credit cards and have paid down some on them!

We have gotten an offer on our house though. However, we are worried about not closing by the end of the year and missing out on the mortgage relief tax credit. I was wondering if anyone knew about filing for insolvency when doing our taxes if it took longer than the end of the year? Would we be able to include our mortgage? We owe $180,000 and the offer is for $101,000. Does that mean we would be insolvent by $79,000? We don't have any equity in our vehicles and I think our credit card debt would cancel out our cash. So so confused...

Frustrated with T-mobile

June 5th, 2012 at 03:05 pm

Last time I called t-mobile they offered me a promotion that if I renewed my 2 year contract that I could have 1 month free service in May. I went ahead and did it because we had no plans to drop our cell phones anyway. Well I got my May bill last night and was still charged for the service. When I called to ask them about it, they said they had no record of it and it's not something they could offer me. They said I have to write a letter to customer relation and then they can review the tape recording. Hopefully they won't say this was lost too. On top of that they charged me for unlimited text messaging when I told them I didn't want it. They said they would take it off my contract but I still had to pay for this month even though I didn't use it. Very very frustrated with T-mobile. Out of 10 years of service, this is the first time I've ever had a problem with them.

re-doing taxes?

February 2nd, 2010 at 04:38 pm

well we did our taxes a few weeks ago and we got $2800 back but I thinkwe jumped the gun. I forgot about refinancing the house and being able to deduct the MIP and interest from that. We just got the paperwork yesterday and when I went to the tax calculator t see if we would have gotten much more back, it jumped up about $600. Is it worth doing an amended tax return or is it bad to do that? Would they be more likely to try and audit you?
